Canoe Polo

Are you a polo player? Or a paddler, (not complete beginner), and fancy giving canoe polo a go! It is great fun! Contact us if you want to come along!

Where and When

Each Tuesday we meet at Tooting Leisure Centre in for our regular Canoe Polo session.  We meet at the poolside at 9:15pm in order to get our kit ready and prepare the pitch. The polo session games, or training, start at 9:30pm and runs until 10.30pm, when we run over the road to a local pub for last orders.

We also enter our Open and Ladies teams into competitions

Who

The polo sessions are great fun and suit a range of abilities from newcomers to polo to advanced polo players. The session is suitable for most levels of paddlers except beginners. You would need reasonable boat control and be able to roll, (paddle or hand), or be able to do bow rescues.  Most people who attend have some previous polo playing experience but this is not necessary. We train at the beginning of most sessions and have a monthly beginner friendly session. Newcomers to polo will soon learn! We are also looking for new players to join our ladies and open teams. Please contact us if you are interested in coming along to try it out!

Cost

Current prices for polo are:

£10 per session for non-members

£8 per session for members

This money is paid directly to BCC, (not the leisure centre), please bring cash to the poolside and pay there. Members may also pay for sessions by bank transfer to the club bank account.

Kit

We have all the kit you need to play, including a fleet of plastic polo kayaks. You may bring your own kit, (e.g. paddles, spraydecks etc). It is not necessary to bring a polo boat. All you need is a swimming costume and towel. A rash vest or T-shirt may be worn on top.
